There are in the district four Fish Shops, two Fried Fish
Shops, and nineteen shops where Boiled Ham, Tinned Foods, Brawn,
German Sausage, and other cooked edibles are sold, the majority of
these shops supplying these articles in small quantities are all visited
and kept under observation.
During the summer months Ice Cream Shops are also visited,
and this is a most important work, especially the inspection of the
kitchen and back premises where this cool but suspicious sweetmeat
is manufactured.
Full details as to the Food Supply and Meat condemned, etc.,
will be iound in the Sanitary Inspector's Report.
Sale of Food and Drug's Acts.—These Acts are carried out
by the County Council, but the Sanitary Inspector is also appointed
an Inspector under the Act, which is a very useful procedure, as
this enables independent samples being taken of any article.
Return of Samples analysed during the Year ended 31st
December, 1914.
