BIRTHS.
During the year 3,436 births were registered as against
3,596 in 1913, giving a birth-rate of 23.5 per 1,000 of population.
Of these 1,717 were males and 1,719 females.
The birth-rate for England and Wales for the year was 23.6
per thousand, whilst the average rate for the 97 large towns
was 27.9.
The rate is still on the decline and is the lowest recorded.
