The Diphtheria, Enteric Wards and Open Air Shelter,
together with the Administrative Block are temporary buildings
of wood and iron.
It will soon be necessary to build a permanent Administration
Block, as the present kitchen and sleeping accommodation is not
sufficient for the demands of the Hospital.
STAFF.
The health of the staff has caused some anxiety. A number
of nurses having finished their probationary period of three years
left to take up general Hospital Nursing, and being replaced by
young probationers who were more susceptible to infection, three
of them developed Scarlet Fever and two Diphtheria. It was
therefore necessary to obtain extra assistance.
I beg to record my thanks to the Matron and Nursing Staff
for the interest taken at all times in the welfare of the patients,
and to whom I give the credit for the excellent results obtained.
The figures given will compare most favourably with any
Isolation Hospital.
The Staff consists of Matron, 3 sisters, 7 staff nurses, 3
junior staff nurses, 14 probationer nurses, 1 cook, 12 maids, 5
laundresses, 1 laundry attendant, 1 boiler attendant, 2 gardeners,
2 ambulance drivers, and 2 porters.
1 he ambulances consist of 1 horse ambulance and a new
.notor ambulance, which is giving complete satisfaction.
