General character of defects:—
Dirty walls and ceilings.
Drinking-water improperly stored.
Defective flushing apparatuses.
Soil pans foul and broken.
Yards and forecourts improperly paved.
OFFENSIVE TRADES.
No Licence has been granted for any of these trades to be
carried on in the Borough.
SMOKE NUISANCE.
Fortunately for the health of the Borough we have very few
factories, so that few complaints are made of this nuisance. In
no instance was it found necessary to take legal proceedings to
enforce abatement of the nuisance.
PARKS AND OPEN SPACES.
The Borough is well supplied with Parks and playing fields.
Bowling greens consisting of six rinks have been laid out in Plashet

parts of the Parks during the summer, and football in the winter.
During the summer months band music and entertainments are
given.
