UNCERTFIED DEATHS.
Three were recorded, a similar number occurred in 1906.
The following causes of death were stated by the Registrars:—
Cerebral Haemorrhage, Male 72 years
Bronchitis & Pneumonia, ,, 3 ,,
Heart Disease Female 67 ,,
INFANTILE MORTALITY.
During the year there were 386 deaths in the Borough of
Infants under one year of age, as compared with 473 during the
previous year.
The death rate per 1,000 births was 105, as compared with a
rate of 129 in 1906. This decrease is almost entirely due to the
great diminution in the number of deaths from Summer Diarrhoea.
Owing to the cool and wet weather experienced during the third
quarter of the year (July-September) the number of deaths from
Diarrhceal diseases, which at this period is usually very high,
remained exceptionally low.
During the entire year—1907—the deaths of Infants from
Diarrhceal diseases of all kinds only numbered 49, while in 1906,
with a hot, dry summer, the number was 155.
The following table compiled by order of the Local Government
Board gives a complete list of the causes of all Infant deaths
which occurred during the year:—
