SPECIAL REPORT re DIPHTHERIA,
Forwarded to Local Government Board in November.
I beg to report that during the current year, 320 cases have
been notified, as compared with 164 for the corresponding period
of 1898.
The cases have occurred in the different Wards as follows:—

The percentage of cases per 1,000 population in the respective
Wards are as follows:—
Manor Park Ward 2.93
Plashet Ward 5.11
Central Ward 3.78
Beckton and North Woolwich Wards 1.16
It will be seen that the Plashet Ward has suffered most,
especially in the western part of the Ward, including Sherrard Road,
