result of the enquiries and of the quantity of samples
taken from time to time by the County Inspectors.
The total number of samples purchased was 61, viz.:
milk 33, separated milk 2, butter 25, and blackberry
wine 1. One sample of milk contained added water
to the extent of 16 per cent. and the vendor was
fined £2 and costs. A sample of separated milk was
adulterated with added water to the extent of 5 per
cent. and in this case the vendor was fined 20s. and
costs. Two samples of milk were certified to be
inferior in quality.
Twelve of the twenty-five samples of butter were
purchased informally, and one was reported as adulterated.
I was not able to obtain a formal sample
from the same vendor until the present month, so that
the record of the official analysis and proceedings will
have to be included in the report for 1911.

been complied with, the necessary licenses were issued.
The quantities kept vary from 20 to 2,000 gallons, and
in cases where more than forty gallons are stored,
special precautions are taken.
