"Sir,
I beg to report that during the year ended the 31st
December, 1910, I have registered the notification of
939 births, and in 662 cases 1 have visited the homes.
The total number of visits and re-visits during the
year was 1,287.
There were 29 deaths amongst the infants visited
and of these 13 were artificially fed; 19 infants died
from premature birth, etc., before I visited the homes,
and two deaths occurred amongst infants under one
year of age who were born outside the district.
Of the total number of deaths of children under one
year of age, seven occurred in various institutions outside
the district.
During the year ten notifications of stillborn infants
were received.
As you are aware, 58 cases of phthisis and tuberculosis
have been notified, and 35 of these have been
enquired into and reported upon. The majority
of the patients have been re-visited from time to
time.
Yours faithfully,
J. CRUICKSHANK,
Health Visitor."
