In the preceding Tables (B and C) I have given the Deaths registered
in the Rural District of Chorley. Several Residents in the District have
died in public institutions (Chorley Workhouse, Rawcliffe Hospital, Wigan
and Blackburn Infirmaries, etc.), and one patient who died in the Isolation
Hospital did not belong to your District. As you will see from Table I. at
the end of this Report, I have included the Deaths of fifteen (15) Residents
dying beyond the District, and excluded the Death of one (1) non-resident
dying in your District. The number of Deaths of Residents was, accordingly,
three hundred and nine (309), and the Death-rate of Residents 14.71,
as compared with a rate of 13.03 in 1906 obtained from the Deaths of two
hundred and seventy-one (271) Residents occurring in that year.
The Death-rate in 1907 was highest in the Brindle Sub-District, and
lo.vest in the Rivington Sub-District, as you will see from Table D, in which
the Deaths of Residents occurring in 1907 and the three preceding years
are arranged under the Sub-District to which they belonged.

In Table E I give the numbers of Deaths of Residents in 1907 and the
five preceding years in age groups, and you may notice that there has been
an increase in the number in each group, as compared with the numbers in
1906, with the exception of that containing the Deaths of Infants under
one year.
