sampling from the same premises proved to be satisfactory,
SAFE MILK In addition to the foregoing 73 samples of raw milk were procured
within your Borough and submitted to test for the presence of tubercle bacilli. One
sample taken in December was found to be slightly contaminated The Public Health
Department for the area in which the milk was produced was notified and investigations
are continuing.
FOOD HYGIENE The work of promoting sound standards of hygiene in food
premises has been steadily pursued. As far as possible, the plans of all premises
which will be associated with the preparation and sale of food are examined In
this way it is possible to influence the standard of premises and equipment and consultation
on these matters is welcomed. Visits of inspection were paid with a view
of securing clean food handled by clean hands and transported, prepared and stored
under clean conditions
As a result of these visits contraventions of the Food Hygiene Regulations were found at 43 premises and were remedied at 53 premises during the year Some particu lars of the contraventions found and remedied are given below, and it is of interest to note that the number of new contraventions found is decreasing
