All the medical practitioners of the Borough were circulated as to the notification
of food poisoning.
During the year 23 cases were notified, but none of them was of a serious
character. Particulars of the cases were forwarded to the London County Council.
In my opinion suspected cases should not be notifiable, and medical practitioners
before notifying cases should have in mind which article of food was suspect. In
many cases, the patient's illness could not be attributed to any particular food and
in nearly every case other members of the family were not affected.
With regard to the registration of food premises, power is given to the London
County Council to make bye-laws respecting such premises. The bye laws have not
yet been made.
The Act received the Royal Assent on the 12th July.
