MEDICAL OFFICER'S REPORT.
TO THE BOARD OF WORKS FOR THE ST. SAVIOUR'S
DISTRICT.
Gentlemen,
I beg to submit to you my Annual Report for the year
ending December 31st, 1893.
During the year there were registered in the Sub-District of
St. Saviour 402 births and 226 deaths, and in the Sub-District
of Christchurch 378 births and 22.1 deaths. In outlying
institutions 102 deaths occurred of persons belonging to St.
Saviour, and 109 deaths of persons belonging to Christchurch.
28 deaths took place in Christcliurcli Workhouse, 19 of which
belonged to other districts.
Inquests were held on the bodies of 19 persons who did not
belong to St. Saviour's District.
These figures, excluding those who did not belong to the
district, represent an annual death rate of 22.95 per 1,000 of the
whole district, as compared with 25.04 the previous year. The
death rates for the two sub-districts, according to their several
populations, are, St. Saviour, 22.58 per 1,000, and Christcliurcli,
23.08.
The following tables represent the distribution and causes
of death in the two districts.
