18 Urinals (provision for six more if required), 6 Lavatory Basins,
and a Caretaker's Box; and lor the latter 4 W.C.'s, 3 Lavatory
Basins, and Caretaker's Box.
The facing of the walls is of best white glazed bricks, and the
piers to the W.C. division walls are of special make, with an
ornamental green dado; the top capping and the arches over
doors are of Faience work, the whole of which was supplied by
the Burmantofts Company of Leeds; the roof is composed of
steel, covered with pavement lights. The drainage was specially
constructed in such a manner that each W.C. is separately connected
with an inspection chamber.
The Fittings, comprising enamelled iron urinal backs with
St. Ann's marble divisions, gusset pieces and backs, flushed by
framed marble tanks, the fronts filled in with bevilled glass,
white china lavatory basins with St. Ann's marble top, pedestal
W.C.'s with mahogany seats and three-gallon flushing cisterns,
were supplied and fixed by Messrs. Finch & Co. The whole of
the wood work is of pitch pine, the floors of Roman mosaic, and
the steps of blue York stone, with Mason's patent treads.
The interior is lighted by electricity, and ventilation is
afforded by an 18-inch open grating all round the roof, with
additional outlets at the base of the lamp columns, no artificial
means being resorted to.
The whole of the constructional work has been carried out by
men in the direct employ of the Board, and the total cost has
been under my estimate of £2,640.

These tanks are connected with sewers that we are unable
to flush from the river, and are invaluable in dry weather in
keeping the sewers with which they are connected thoroughly
