Messrs. Wakeley Bros. & Co., of Bankside, obtained the contract
for barging away the refuse collected by the scavenging
staft, the price being 2s. per ton.
The brooms have been supplied by Mr. J. Tyrie, the No. 1
quality at 82s. per dozen, No. 2 quality at 26s. per dozen. The
horse brooms are refilled about every fortnight, the cost of same
being £2 4s. 0d. per set.
The total weight of trade refuse collected during the year
has been 1,013 tons, the scale of charges fixed upon has been
very satisfactory, scarcely any complaint having been made with
regard to same.
A lean-to van-shed has been erected in Lavington Street
epot and a store lor tools, &c., at a cost of £100.
*This does not include 1,200 tons of snow thrown into the Thames from
the nidges, the rubbish from Paving works, or the slop from sewers.
