Dock to Moss Alley have been paved with new Stone. The
Carriageway has been laid with new 4-in. x 9-in. Guernsey
Granite Pitching on 9-in. of Concrete. The Footways havebeen
paved with New 3-in. Tooled York Stone and new
6-in. x 12-in. Aberdeen Granite Edge Curb. The area of the
new Carriageway is about 1,400 superficial yards: 3,000
superficial feet of new 3-m. York has been laid, and about
550 feet lineal new 6-in. x 12-in. Granite Edge Curb fixed ;
560 feet of Curb has been dressed and fixed, and 500 superficial
feet of old York squared and relaid.
The following Works in connection with the Sewers, &c.„
have been executed during the year:—
George Yard.
A new 12-in. Stoneware Pipe Sewer has been laid in this
street, in order to provide drainage for the new Blocks of
Artizans' Dwellings, recently erected. The new Sewer is 180
feet in length, and discharges into the Sewer in Red Cross
Street.
Surrey Row.
The 12-in. Pipe Sewer in Surrey Row was found to be in
bad condition for a considerable portion of its length; this was
cleared, and several broken and defective pipes were replaced
with new.
Hatfield
Place.
The 12-in. Pipe Sewer in Hatfield Place has been cleared
and all defects made good.
Charles
Street.
The remaining portion of the old high-level Brick Sewer in
rear of Charles Street has been cleared from the large
accumulation of soil which was found to exist there. About
60 cubic yards of soil were removed and 130 cubic yards of
dry rubbish used in filling up the Sewer.
Boundary
Row.
The 12-in. Pipe Sewer in Boundary Row has been cleared
and all defects made good.
Gravel Lane.
A new Side Entrance and Air Shaft has been constructed
on the Gravel Lane Sewer. This Side Entrance has long
been required in consequence of the great distance between
the Side Entrances that formerly existed.
