Asphalt.
Rock asphalt for footways being cheaper than York stone an???
in high repute for durability and cleanliness, the Hoard ha???
determined to give it a trial, and are now paving the easter
footway of the Borough High Street, between St. Thomas
Street and King Street, therewith. The Limmer Asphalt Compan???
are executing the work at the price, including concrete and maintenance
for ten years, of five shillings per superficial yard.
Representation
of Board.
The term of office of Charles Harris, Esq., this Board
esteemed representative at the Metropolitan Hoard, having b???
effluxion of time expired on the 14th instant, the Board at thei???
last meeting unanimously passed a resolution re-electing him t???
fill that office for the ensuing three years. The following
return of Mr. Harris's attendances has been furnished by th???
Metroplitan Board.

London School
Board.
A sum of £63 11s. 11d. was paid by this Board, in February
last, to the Returning Officer for the first election of a School Board
for London, being apportioned expenses chargeable upon the Saint
Saviour's District for such election; and a Precept has been received
from the School Board, dated the 14th instant, demanding payment
on or before the first of August next of the sum of £489 17s. 6d.,
being the apportioned amount required from this District for defraying
the expenses of that Board up to the 25th of March, 1872—this
District Board, as the local authority for Saint Saviour's, having'
to raise the moneys pursuant to the Elementary Education Act of
1870. The amount will have to be levied in rateable proportion
by the Overseers of the two Parishes.
