A new ornamental 4-globe lamp has been fixed in connection
with the Underground Lavatory work in Charing Cross, and a fifty
feet per hour Westminster lamp upon the same site, facing Cockspur
Street, in lieu of the previous twenty feet per hour lamp, which
latter has been re fixed upon the new refuge in St. Martin's Place.
SLOP AND DUST COLLECTING.
From the tabulated statement attached to this Report it will be
seen that there have been removal from the parish 9,036 loads of
house refuse, and 4,176 loads of slop.
8 sweepers, 2 machine brooms, and 10 Slop and Dust Vans have
been employed in this work. In addition to these it is found
necessary to employ extra slop vans when occasion requires.

It will be noticed that the cost of this work has materially
increased upon the amount expended last year. 1 his increase is
chiefly due to the fact that considerably more slop and dust is now
being removed from the Parish.
