The total sum, it will be noticed, includes £386 9s. 8d., the
annual cost of maintenance of King William Street and Northumberland
Avenue, paid to the Improved Wood Pavement Company.
It also includes for extensive repairs in Brewers Lane, and for
new Jarrah wood opposite the West Strand Post Office.
The granite carriageway of Orange Street has also been
thoroughly repaired, the same having been broken up by the
operations of the Water and Gas Companies in diverting their
mains, consequent upon the closing of Hemmings Row.
