While Leicester Square was being repaved, the opportunity was
taken of widening the west footway of the east side, thus giving
increased accommodation for the large amount of pedestrian traffic
nightly in that locality.
REPAIRS TO STREETS.
The cost of repairing carriageways and footways has amounted
to £1,254 6s. 7d., which sum includes £386 9s. 8d.,the annual cost
of maintenance of King William Street and Northumberland Avenue
paid to the Improved Wood Pavement Company.
The following is the actual cost of repairs in each street:—
