The Birth-rate of the Parish was 15.5 per 1,000.
The Births registered in London in 1889 numbered 131,487
and were in the proportion of 30.3 to 1,000 inhabitants. This is
the lowest birth-rate as yet recorded in London, the rate having
fallen continuously year after year since 1876.
Deaths.
In the year 1889 the Deaths in St. Martin-in-the-Fields numbered
380, a mortality the lowest of the last ten years.

Of the above 380 Deaths, occurring in the Parish and
Charing Cross Hospital, 160 did not belong to the district, and of
course should be deducted from the total deaths in calculating the
death-rate, but on the other hand the deaths of parishioners
