In estimating the death-rate for the year, I have
taken into consideration the deaths of Parishioners
occurring in public institutions outside the Parish.
This is the first occasion I have been enabled to take
account of these deaths, for the year 1883 was the
first time I was supplied with the returns from the
office of the Registrar-General. Therefore this year
the death-rate will be higher than in previous
years in consequence of adding these to the deaths
actually occurring in the Parish, but at the same
time the death-rate will be more trustworthy.
