Management Act, but there are others where we make
little or no progress. Princes Court, Bedfordbury,
and its courts, with one or two exceptions, are still in
a lamentable condition: many of the houses so bad
that entire demolition is the only remedy. The
Charing Cross Railway Station will remove Charles
Court, one of our most dilapidated places, and the new
approaches that will be necessary to and from the
Railroad must ultimately lead to a continuation of
Adelaide Street through Bedfordbury to Long Acre,
and possibly to Bloomsbury. Some such leading
thoroughfare must be required for the enormous traffic
certain to follow the opening of the Railway. In a
sanitary point of view the opening of the Railroad may
be hailed as a very probable means to necessitate the
reconstruction of the very overcrowded district to the
north of Adelaide Street/
