between the shaft ventilator and King Street sewer, were
re-built. The pipe and small brick barrel sewers in the
following places, being in a very defective state, were
replaced with new pipes, viz.:—In Pall Mall (between
Waterloo Place and the Haymarket), Church Court, north
side of Mason's Yard, 93 to 97, Regent Street, and the
Haymarket (opposite the Waterloo Tavern).
The accumulations removed from the sewers and gullies
were carted away by the slopping contractors under their
contract without extra expense to the Vestry.
SEWER VENTILATORS.
Ventilating pipes from the sewers have been carried up
the walls and above the roofs of No. 41, Glasshouse Street;
the Electric Light Station, Carnaby Street; and the
"Blue Posts" public house at the corner of Ganton Street
and King Street.
CONNECTIONS TO SEWERS.
Sixty new connections from houses have been made to
the sewers by men in the employ of your Vestry.
EXAMINING OUTLETS TO DRAINS.
Examinations of outlets of drains have been made in
twenty-two cases. The fee for examination is five shillings.
FLUSHING.
The small sewers and courts were flushed at intervals
during the hot weather as found necessary. The cost of
water was £141 2s. 4d.; labour £65 1s. 10d.
