suggested alterations which were approved by the Vestry,
who accepted the tender of Mr. C. VV. Knight, 14, Marlborough
Mews, to carry out the work in accordance
with the specification prepared by the Vestry's Surveyor
for the sum of .£288. In connection with the abovementioned
alterations the Vestry decided to have electric
light fittings and connections fitted to the offices, and
accepted the tender of Messrs. Freeman & Co., the Vestry's
Gas Fitters, to carry out the work in accordance with the
specification made by the Vestry's Surveyor for the sum
of .£39. The above-mentioned alterations have been found
to be very beneficial for the conduct of business, and a
decided improvement to the Vestry's offices.
Disinfector.—The disinfector has been used for disinfecting
bedding, clothing, &c., for parishioners on 118
occasions compared with 111 in 1894-5 and 72 in 1893-4,
and for disinfecting clothing, &c., from the workhouse on
72 occasions.
New Disinfecting Apparatus for Stoneyard.—In
December last the attention of the Vestry was called to the
defective and unsafe condition of the disinfecting apparatus
at the Stoneyard, and having considered alternate tenders
for repairing the existing disinfecting chamber and making
good the foundation, and for providing and fixing a new
chamber of modern construction, they came to the conclusion
that having regard to the large expenditure needed to put
the existing apparatus in a thoroughly satisfactory condition,
it was advisable to purchase a new machine. An
order was accordingly given to Messrs. Manlove, Alliott and
Co., Limited, to supply one of their Alliott and Paton's
Patent Improved Washington Lyons Disinfector, with the
latest improvements, at a cost of £286, exclusive of
builders' and carpenters' work and rough labour.
