OFFICERS OF THE VESTRY.
Vestry Clerk's Department.—The Vestry, in January
last, lost a faithful servant by the death of Mr. J. Morris
Crow, the Accounts, Rates and General Clerk.
Mr. Crow was originally appointed under the Vestry as
General Clerk in August, 1883, and succeeded to the
position which he held at the time of his decease on the
retirement of Mr. R. H. Beacall, the Vestry's Accountant,
in October, 1888. Of late years Mr. Crow has been in
declining health and gradually succumbed to consumption
at the early age of 35.
Mr. W. H. Terry, Accountant Clerk to the Battersea
Vestry, was appointed successor to Mr. Crow, at a commencing
salary of £150 per annum, rising by annual
increments of £10 to £200.
Owing to the delay and inconvenience caused by the
inattention of the Rate Collector for Pall Mall Ward—
Mr. George Flint—the Vestry decided not to re-appoint that
gentleman in the ordinary course to collect the rates for the
year 1895-6, but invited applications for the appointment.
Mr. J. J. Johnson, Assessor and Collector of Queen's Taxes
