Standard for Milk. The Vestry had under consideration
in November last, a letter from the Vestry of Battersea
asking them to support certain representations made by
them to the Local Government Board in favour of the
adoption of a recognised standard for milk for the purpose
of the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts. The Vestry, in reply,
informed the Vestry of Battersea that they were not prepared
to support their representations, on the ground that
the adoption of such a standard would probably tend to the
universal adulteration of milk of superior quality, by
practically legalizing the addition of water to such an
extent as would not reduce the quality of the milk below
the recognised standard.
