OFFICERS OF THE VESTRY.
Vestry Clerk.—The Vestry and the Parish have sustained
a severe loss by the resignation of their able Vestry
Clerk, Mr. Harry Wilkins, on his appointment to the
Secretaryship of the Lambeth Waterworks Company.
Mr. Wilkins was appointed to the office of Vestry Clerk in
September, 1882, and has performed the duties devolving
upon him with marked ability and. faithfulness. In
addition to performing the ordinary duties of the office,
Mr. Wilkins has from time to time identified himself
with, and taken a prominent part in, various public and
metropolitan questions, such as Electric Lighting, School
Board Administration, London Water Supply, Assessment
of Property, etc., and his loss to the Local Government of
the Metropolis will be therefore more keenly felt. The
Vestry, in accepting Mr. Wilkins' resignation, passed the
following resolution, a copy of which was suitably engrossed
on vellum and framed, and handed to Mr. Wilkins :—
"That, in accepting with great reluctance the resignation
of Mr. Harry Wilkins, their Vestry Clerk, the
Vestry desire to place on record their testimony to the
great ability, assiduity, and faithfulness Avith which for a
period of nearly twelve years he has performed the duties
pertaining to his office. His intimate knowledge of
assessments and other matters relating to municipal life
render his withdrawal from Vestry work a loss to London,
a loss that at the present juncture it can ill afford."
