In a population of 24,993, 470 deaths amount to a
death-rate of 18 80 for each 1,000 persons living.
During the year 1893, 28 bodies were removed into the
Mortuary. Twenty-two inquests have been held upon
bodies lying in the Mortuary, and 21 post-mortem examinations
for judicial purposes have been made in the Examination
Room adjoining the Mortuary.

causes of death among persons dying in outlying institutions,
but reported as having come from the district of St.
