PITCHING.
Rose and Crown Yard has been relaid with old granite
pitching from George Street and the Stone Yard, at a cost of
£61 7s. 6d.
WOOD CROSSING.

One wood crossing was put in on the north-east side Of
Regent Street, at the entrance to Air Street.
FOOTWAYS.
The following work was carried out on the footways in
streets which have been repaved:—York stone relaid, 76,527
square feet, granite kerb reset, 12,311 feet run. These
dimensions include 33,001 feet of new York stone, and 3,214
feet of new kerb.
OLD MATERIALS.
The quantities of old materials sold were:—Wood, 72 cart
roads ; iron, 8 tons 3 cwt.; York stone, 2,001 square feet ;
pitching, 136 cart loads.
REFUGE.
The want of a refuge at the bottom of the Haymarket being
greatly felt, your Vestry entered into negotiations with the
Vestry of St. Martin-in-the-Fields to erect one at the
boundary between the two Parishes, with the result that one
was ordered to be fixed at that spot, and lighted with an 80candle
"Lambeth" lamp, at the joint expense. This was
done accordingly.
