CAB RADIUS.
The adoption of Charing Cross as the centre of the four-mile
radius for cabs, for the whole of London, appears to have operated
with some disadvantage to the eastern districts of the Metropolis.
Upon the request of the Hackney District Board of Works, the
Vestry appointed five of their members to attend a Conference of
representatives from Metropolitan Vestries and District Boards, to
consider the advisability of seeking to obtain other centres for radii
in different districts of London. The Conference was held at the
Mansion House, on the 13th March, when the Lord Mayor presided,
and a Committee was appointed to draw up a scheme for consideration
at a future meeting.
