the Parish of St. Anne, Soho, have been sent to
the Workhouse of Saint James, Westminster, and
have died there. The number of persons brought
from Saint Anne's, Soho, is forty-one. Of these,
twenty-three were persons above fifty years of age;
sixteen were above one year and under fifty; whilst
only two were infants under one year of age.

This is very gratifying, as it thus enables me to
state that the death rate of 1871, was less than in
any year since 1858.

It will be seen from this table that there died in
the Parish of Saint James, in sixteen years, 11,711
persons, or, on an average, seven hundred and thirty
persons every year. It thus appears that the death
rate of the year 1871 was fifty below the average of
the last sixteen years.
