the Vestry, and, every attention having been given
to them, a detailed Report of each or any of the
matters would be in every way superfluous.
In previous Reports and explanations so much
has been said for the purpose of making clear the
reasons, or necessity for the execution of the various
works, that to go into the matter now would be
merely repetition, it is therefore only necessary to
allude to such matters, either generally or in detail,
as may seem to require some explanation, the
lists annexed shewing the cost.
Probably one of the most onerous duties of the
Vestry is the maintenance of the paved surfaces of
the Roadways; this is a matter that requires the
most minute and constant attention, and is done
almost entirely by the men employed directly by the
Vestry. They make good all accidental damage, or
purposely made openings, and execute such repairs
as may be done with the material in the possession
of the Vestry; but when new material is required it
is found more advantageous to place the matter in
the hands of contractors, and the Yestry may
fairly congratulate themselves upon the honest
manner they have hitherto been treated by such
contractors.
