It will be seen from these tables that bronchitis
is to be credited with the largest amount of the
excess of death, and pneumonia follows. The
deaths from bronchitis in 1864 in excess of 1862
being 78, and the excess of pneumonia being 22.
The excess from pneumonia, however, amongst
adults, is only 5. In order, therefore, to substantiate
