General Report of Works executed by the
Vestry of St. Jamess, Westminster, in
the Year 1858-59.
8th June, 1859.
Gentlemen,
The List of Works executed by you which I have
to submit for the past year is not a very long one,
and no doubt will decrease annually as sewerage and
other works are gradually brought to completion.
The most important Work performed during the
year is the remaking the carriageway in Regent
Street and laying down iron channels for the same;
as the principles followed in this work have been
fully explained in a Report from the Committee
appointed to carry it out, it does not appear necessary
for me to go into the subject again here, and I
have therefore contented myself with reporting the
total expenditure.
The carriageway in St. James's Square was
repaired with a portion of the stone forming
the previously existing paved margin in Regent
Street, after it had furnished employment for the
Account of Monies owing to and Debts owing by the Vestry, on the 25th day of March, 1859.
