I beg to submit the following Report and Statement of the
works executed under the supervision of my Department during the
12 months ending 25th March, 1899.

The works carried out under this head during the year have been
generally in the character of repairs, with the exception of the wood
paving opposite the Free Library, which was repaved in February
with Jarrah blocks. The wood block paving has also been repaired in
Borough High Street, Old Kent Road, and London Road.
Repairs have been carried out to the sett paying in New Kent
Road, Southwark Bridge Road, Newington Causeway, Page's Walk,
Marshalsea Road, Tennis Court, Collier's Rent, Valentine Place, &c.
Several streets which join Old Kent Road, and were in a
dangerous condition, through the sharp dip at the crossings, have
been re-laid, so that the roads now properly intersect.
