Surveyor's Annual Report. 25
SURVEY0R'S
ANNUAL REP0RT,
For the Year ending 25th March, 1886.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
I have the honor to submit my Sixteenth Annual Report for your
???nsideration, and beg especially to draw your attention to the injury
???ne to the roads and footways, and inconvenience caused by the
latory and unsatisfactory manner in which the various Gas and
Water Companies repave the trenches opened by them in the Parish.
By the present arrangement the companies are empowered by the
???estry to repair the trenches themselves, but I feel confident that,
the Vestry decided to have the trenches repaired by persons in
???eir own employ, the work would be done in a more satisfactory
???d substantial manner, with very little additional cost to the com???anies,
and with greater promptitude and efficiency.
I must again mention the desirability of Subways being formed
all new streets for the reception of gas, water, telegraph and
???her companies' mains, wires, &c., and that means should be adopted
??? compel the companies to use the same, thus avoiding the damage
???nd annoyance caused by their pulling up the roads immediately
???ey are paved.
