September 8th. Thirteen.—Three drowned in Thames ; Two drowned in Surrey Canal; Two
found drowned; Drowned in the Docks; Consumption of bowels;
Aneurism of the Aorta ; Fatty degeneration of heart: Congestion of
lungs; Suicide by throwing himself under a train ; Accidentally
suffocated in bed.
,, 22nd. One.—Drowned in Thames.
October 6th. Two.—Accident, causing hemorrhage from divided popliteal artery, which was due
to being struck with a chisel; Accidentally suffocated in bed.
,, 20th. Two.—Convulsions due to irritation of stomach and intestines from overfeeding;
Apoplectic fit accelerated by excessive drinking.
November 3rd. Three.—Two drowned in Docks ; Injury at birth.
,, 17th. Two.—Found drowned in Thames ; Starvation from want of proper assimilated
food.
December 1st. Five.—Fracture of base of skull; Found drowned in Surrey Canal; Drowned
in Surrey Commercial Docks ; Epileptic fit; Acute pneumonia.
,, 15th. One.—Drowned in the Surrey Commercial Docks.
;, 31st. Three.—Accidentally suffocated during suckling; Two drowned in the Docks.
Zymotic Diseases.
The number of deaths in the Parish, as well as the Asylums' Board Hospitals, shows a very
agreeable diminution. Last year the number was 125, this year it falls to 70

one ; Scarlet Fever, three; Enteric Fever, ten ; Typhus Fever, none ; Puerperal Fever, four ;
Continued Fever, none; Relapsing Fever, none ; Diphtheria, two; Infantile Diarrhoea, twenty-one ;
Measles, six; Whooping Cough, twenty-one; Erysipelas, two ; Membranous Croup, none. This
