Public Libraries (England) Acts, 1855 to 1890.
Application having been made, on behalf of the Libraries Commissioners, for the erection
of the Public Library, Lower Road, slightly in advance of the adjoining house, the matter was
referred to the Superintending Architect of the London County Council, who approved of the
proposed line, the Vestry seeing no objection thereto.
At a Meeting held on the 18th March, 1890, Messrs. Edmund Rumney Smith, John
Reeson, and Henry Lovell Bartlett, three of the Library Commissioners, were ballotted as the
retiring Commissioners, and were re-elected to serve again as Commissioners under the above
Acts.
