Pipe sewers have been laid in the following new streets
Silwood Street
Silvcrlock Street (West portion.)
Westlake Road (West portion.)
Parfitt Road.
The cost of which has been defrayed by the Owners of the property in the said
streets.
A combined 12 inch pipe drain has been constructed in the rear of the houses
on the east side of Princes Street, between Princes Alley and Rotherhithe Wall, at
the cost of the Owners of the said property.
The Owner of the houses Nos. 123 to 145 Jamaica Level (late Hindley
Terrace,) having paid down one moiety of the estimated cost of a pipe drain, and
entered into an agreement to pay the balance of the said cost by two instalments
within twelve months, a pipe drain was laid from the Bermondsey Branch low level
sewer crossing Jamaica Level, by Hickling Street, up to the said houses, and the
drainage of the same has been connected with the said pipe drain.
A length of 12 inch pipe sewer has been laid in Rotherhithe Street, by Normandy
Wharf and Horseferry Dock, the Owners of premises abutting thereon having
previouslv contributed towards the cost of the said sewer.
The salarv of Mr. James E. Poole, the Clerk of the Works for Sewers, has upon
his application been raised from £2 2s. Od. to £2 6s. Od. per week.
Paving Works.
The following materials have been used in repairing the roads during the year
ended 25th March, 1878, viz.
Broken Guernsey Granite 1180 cubic yards.
Ditto Common Stone 44 „
Gravel and Hoggin 275 „
Slop and Snow carted 11302 loads
Water for watering roads 10965 „
