3 qrs. of bones, 108 tons of rags, 68 tons 19 cwt. 3 qrs.
of cast and wrought iron, 3 tons 3 cwt. 3 qrs. of various
metals, 12 tons 15 cwt. of white sheet glass, and 40
tons of black glass, broken bottles, &c.
The hard and soft core is boated away at an expense
of 3s. per ton.
SLOPPING DEPARTMENT.
All dry sweepings, slop, snow, &c., collected by the
Vestry's carmen, are brought to the depot, and when
in a dry state it is tipped into boats direct, and when
.
in a fluid state it is deposited into the filtering tanks.
When the water has drained away the mud is loaded
into boats and sent away by canal to Southall, under a
contract with Messrs. Studds, at 1s. 11d. per ton.
This amount includes haulage, tonnage, unloading, and
providing a shoot.
During the year 22,839 loads were collected,
8,034 horses and vans being employed, working 306
days, giving an average of 74.63 loads per day, the
maximum number brought to the dep6t in one week
being 1,599, and the minimum 231 loads; 24,560½
tons were taken away by canal by means of 660 boats.
