London Overhead Wires Act, 1891.
During the past year the following works have
been carried out under this Act:—
The whole of the plant of the Exchange Telegraph
Company in the Parish has been examined, there being
about 61 attachments, poles, &c., at that time. The
result of this showed that the plan and information
submitted was very incorrectly prepared, many spans
of the wire being entirely omitted, and others wrongly
shown. A corrected plan was made in the office, and
a report sent to the Secretary of the Company. Many
defects were discovered in the attachments, stays, &c.;
13 spans exceeded the limit allowed by the Bye-Laws,
viz., 115 yards. The Company eventually made good
all the defects, took down a large number of spans,
the wires being out of use, and shortened 7 of the
