district. 29 cases—26 in St. Mary's and 3 in St.
John's Sub-district—were notified to the Sanitary Department
during the quarter. All the cases were
removed to Hospital.
In London there were 100 deaths, equivalent to an
annual rate of 0.09 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Measles caused no death in Paddington, as compared
with 58 in the corresponding quarter of last
year.
In London there were 439 deaths, equivalent to
an annual death-rate of 0.41 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Scarlet Fever caused 5 deaths—3 in St. Mary's
and 2 in St. John's Sub-district—equivalent to an
annual rate of 0.16 per 1,000 inhabitants. 187 cases
—139 in St. Mary's and 48 in St. John's Sub-district—
were notified during the quarter to the Sanitary Department,
as compared with 93 in the corresponding
period of last year. 105 of these cases—82 from St.
Mary's and 23 from St. John's Sub-district—were
removed to Hospital, the remainder—57 in St. Mary's
and 25 in St. John's—being treated at home.
In London there were 836 deaths, equivalent to an
annual rate of 0.31 per 1,000 inhabitants.
Diphtheria caused 13 deaths—9 in St. Mary's
and 4 in St. John's Sub-district—equivalent to an
annual rate of 0.4 per 1,000 inhabitants. The number
