fine.
An instance may show how some magistrates carry
out the Food and Drugs Adulteration Act. A man
was summoned for selling Butter containing 90 per
cent. of margarine. He said it was sold to him in
that state by the wholesale vendor. This latter appeared
and, whilst admitting the fact, offered to help in paying
the fine. The magistrate imposed a fine of Is. The
two managed to pay it.
