were of non-parishioners who died in St. Mary's Hospital,
10 were of non-parishioners who died in the
Children's Hospital, and 7 were of non-parishioners
who died in the Lock Hospital, making a total of 272
non-parishioners who died in the Parish.
Deducting these non-parishioners, it will be seen
that 2,022 parishioners died actually in Paddington.
To this number must be added the deaths of 120
parishioners in extra-parochial hospitals and public
institutions, making a corrected total of 2,142—1,025
males and 1,117 females—equivalent to an annual
death-rate of 18.0 per 1,000 inhabitants.
The natural increase of population from the excess
of births over deaths was 792, as compared with 842
in the previous year.
Of the 2,142 deaths, 1,632 occurred in St. Mary's
and 510 in St. John's Sub-district.
The subjoined table shows that the deaths were
most numerous in the first, and least so in the third
quarter of the year.
