During the 13 weeks ending 31st December, 1887, being the
fourth quarter of the registration year, 724 births and 522 deaths
were registered in Paddington. Of the 724 births, comprising
375 male and 349 female children, 573 occurred in St. Mary's,
and 151 in St. John's Sub-district. The 724 births were equivalent
to an annual rate of 25.3 per 1,000 of the estimated
population of the parish. In London the births were equivalent
to an annual rate of 31.2 per 1,000.
