During the 13 weeks ending 1st October, 1887, being the
third quarter of the registration year, 716 births and 455 deaths
were registered in Paddington. Of the 716 births, comprising
362 male and 354 female children, 571 occurred in St. Mary's,
and 145 in St. John's Sub-district. The 716 births were equivalent
to an annual rate of 25'0 per 1,000 of the estimated
population of the parish. In London the births were equivalent
to an annual rate of 31.2 per 1,000.
