The death-rate in London—19.9 per 1,000 inhabitants—was
lower than in any previous year excepting
1885, when the death-rate was 19.7
The death-rate in each one of the five groups of
districts into which London is divided is shown as
under:—

The subjoined figures showing the number of deaths
from all causes in Paddington during each of the last
ten years, may be more intelligible to some than if
expressed in the form of a death-rate:—

When considering these figures, not only must the
annual increase of population (averaging more than
1,000 a year) be borne in mind, but also the fact that
only since 1885, have the deaths of parishioners in
out-lying Public Institutions been included. The 81
