deaths were registered in Paddington. Of the 693 births,
comprising 360 male and 333 female children, 536 occurred
in St. Marys, and 157 in St. John's Sub-district. The 693
births were equivalent to an annual rate of 25.6 per 1,000 of
the estimated papulation of the parish.
Deducting from the total deaths (486) those of 52 nonparishioners
in St. Mary's Hospital, the corrected number of
deaths is seen to be 434—223 males and 211 females—and
the annual death-rate to be 16.1 per 1,000 inhabitants.
In calculating this death-rate, the deaths of parishioners in
hospitals, institutions, or places outside the parish, and of
non-parishioners in St. Mary's Hospital, have not been
included.
