From the weekly returns of the Local Registrars, it
appears that during the 13 weeks ending January 1st, 1881,
being the fourth quarter of the registration year 1880, 654
births and 462 deaths were registered in Paddington. The
654 births, comprising 328 male and 326 female children,
show an annual birth rate of 22.6 per 1,000 of the estimated
population of the parish. Deducting from the total deaths
(462) the deaths of 47 non-parishioners in the two hospitals
