This quarter has exhibited a most favourable state of the
public health. The death-rate from 464 deaths, is 17.7 per
1000 of the estimated population, the birth-rate 27.5. Out of
40 deaths in St. Mary's Hospital, 18 were of persons brought
from other parishes; some from adjoining, others from country
places. It may be fairly calculated that more persons go away
from this Parish, and die at homes elsewhere, than of those
who come here to die. 37 deaths took place in the Workhouse,
2 in the Lock Hospital, making 16 per cent. of the total deaths
in public institutions of the Parish; this is about the average.
48 Inquests were held in the Parish this quarter.
